Larry was born in the stone caretaker's cottage on the Lurman estate, "Farmlands." His maternal grandfather, Charles Harvey Lapole, was the caretaker for the Lurmans.

Larry married Blanche "Virginia" (Bodensick) Myers ["Ginny"] (16 Feb 1919 - 16 Dec 1985) on 6 Apr 1942 at the Third Evangelical United Brethren Church, Fulton Avenue and Lombard Street, Baltimore City, MD.

Larry served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 5 Nov 1942 - 27 Mar 1946. He was eventually promoted to a Technician Fourth Grade [Sgt.] with the 422nd Signal Company Aviation. He was ordered overseas in Dec 1944. He served in India and China before returning to the U.S. in Mar 1946.

Larry worked for the C&P Telephone Company from 8 Sept 1941 - 1 Mar 1981.
