John O. Conner, 70, of Withee, Wisc., died Tuesday in the Marshfield, Wisc., Hospital. He had been in failing health the past year.
The son of Harry and Stella Banning Conner, he was born Sept. 14, 1902 at Novinger. He married Esther Sallade and to this marriage one son was born. Later he married Celia Hickkinen who survives. Also surviving are his son, John R. Conner of 211 E. Missouri who is District Supervisor for the Department of Liquor Control; two brothers, Jennings Conner of Pleasanton, Kan., and Earl Conner of Milwaukee, Wisc., and one grandson, David Conner of Kirksville.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian Conner and one brother, Dewey Conner.
Mr. Conner spent his early life in Novinger and Kirksville. For 38 years he was employed for Post Engineers at Ft. Sheridan, Ill. Following his retirement he moved to Wisconsin.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 676. AF and AM at Highland Park, Ill.
The body will arrive Friday morning at the Funeral Home of Davis and Davis where Masonic services will be held Friday evening at 7:30
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the funeral chapel. The Rev. Archie Cooper will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Novinger cemetery.
