Carol Voss, 72, died March 7, 2001, at her home in Kingman, Kansas. The daughter of Kenneth and Elsie (Yotter) Shannon, she was born July 31, 1928, in Leon, Kansas. She graduated from Leon High School in 1947 and attended the Venus Beauty Academy in Wichita, Kansas, to become a hairdresser. On October 3, 1948, she married William A. Voss. He preceded her in death on May 9, 1959. A longtime resident of Kingman County, Carol was a homemaker. An excellent seamstress, she taught many young members of the Galesburg 4-H Club how to sew. She was very active in her church, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and UPW in Kingman. Survivors include: three daughters, Lana Voss of Sand Springs, OK, Dixie Voss Anders of Wichita, KS, and Vickie Voss Kaplan of Emporia, KS; two sisters, Lucille McClure of El Dorado, KS, and Emaline Guy of Wellsville, KS; and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Shannon, and a sister, Margaret Childs. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 12, at First Presbyterian Church, Kingman. A family committal service will be held at a later date in Plainville.
