RIMERSBURG-Approximately 200 persons honored Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lerch Sunday, Nov. 18, at a reception held in the Community Building, to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Lerch and the former Mary Culbertson were married on December 18, 1912, by Rev. R. Vincent Hartman of New Kensington, who was the guest speaker.
He was introduced by the eldest of the sons, Eugene Lerch, who acted as master of ceremonies.
A white and gold color scheme was carried out in the decorations in keeping with a Golden Wedding theme. Bowls of gold mums and palm, guarded by white tapers, enhanced the tables. The four-tier wedding cake, baked by Mrs. Raymond Culbertson of Rimersburg, was decorated with sugar crystal bells topped with gold numerals and tulle.
Aides were Mrs. Everett Manson, Mrs. Merle Fagley, Mrs. James Kindel and Mrs. Raymond Culbertson.
Mrs. Lerch chose an eggshell white brocade sheath with jacket, accessories with brown. She wore a gold orchid corsage and her jewelry was crystal. A set of wedding rings were exchanged between the couple and Mr. Lerch also presented his wife with a watch.
All of the daughters wore red roses as corsages. The six children who were present included: Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lerch of Irwin, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lerch of Erie, Lt. Col. Ralph A. Lerch of Langley Field, VA., Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (Pauline) Bashline of Rimerburg, Mrs. Cecil (Louise) Slee of Saxonburg and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce (June) Campbell of Rimersburg.
They have 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. The guest book was in charge of Mrs. James Rimer.
