Murphy Akins,78, died Thursday, September 23, 1971 at the Veterans's Hospital, Topeka. He was born March 29, 1893 at Ringgold, Ga.

He had lived in Minneapolis since 1917. He was a painter . He was also commander of the Minneapolis VFW post at the time of his death, and a member of the World War 1 Barracks and the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors are a son, Keith, Topeka; six grandchildren, a brother, Frank, Abilene and a sister, Mrs. Charles Beaver, Ringgold.

The funeral for Murphy Akins, Minneapolis, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Haley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with Masonic graveside services and military honors by the VFW.
