BLACKSHEAR -- Mrs. Doris Strickland Sloan, 54, died May 23 at Satilla Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Gaylesville, Ala., and a resident of Blackshear since 1987. She was a homemaker and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Jerry Sloan of Blackshear; five sons, Russell Strickland of St. Simons Island, Timmy Strickland of Brunswick, Ricky Strickland of Patterson, Jerry Sloan II of Stillwater, Okla., and Tommy Sloan of Hinesville; a daughter, Caprecia Buck of Perry, Okla.; her mother, Mildred Elrod Ott of Douglas; four sisters, Nancy Boyd and Gail Anderson, both of Waycross, Linda Barrs and Denise Hursey, both of Douglas; three brothers, Ronnie Ott of Albany and Jimmy and Terry Ott, both of Douglas; and eight grandchildren.

VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home in Blackshear.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home, burial in Blackshear Cemetery.
