"In Albany, Vt. Sept. 8, Mrs. Asenath Kendall, wife of the late Hiram Chafey, aged 78 years. In early life professed faith in Christ, in union with the Baptists. In 1832 was an original member of the Baptist Church in Albany. Ever adorning a good profession. Last five years an invalid and great sufferer. Death came as a happy release. 'To depart and be with Christ is far better.' Funeral services on 10th inst., by Rev. H.N. Hovey. Text: Rev. 14:13. Her remaining two sons and five daughters were present."
[Rev. H.N. Hovey was Horace Nelson Hovey (1815-1882), Baptist clergyman formerly of Albany, VT; in 1881 he was pastor of the Baptist church in Lowell, VT. He was the brother of Asenath Kendall Chafey's sister Polly's late husband Rufus Billings Hovey.]
