Ruth (Snyder) Alpert, 92, formerly of Parkside Street, Springfield, died Tuesday in a local nursing home.

She worked with her late husband, Charles Alpert, at the former Alpert Brothers Hardware on Main Street in the North End from 1930 until 1967.

Born in Poland, she lived in Springfield and Kennebunkport, Maine, most of her life.

She also was an antique dealer and an avid gardener.

She was a member of the Greater Springfield-Freedman Post 26 Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans, and a former member of Beth Israel Synagogue.

She leaves a son, attorney Earl Alpert of Longmeadow; two daughters, Salli Gordon-Hamilton of Kennebunkport and Natasha Heifetz of Berkeley, Calif.; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted this afternoon at City of Homes Cemetery in Springfield. Harold R. Ascher & Son Memorial Chapel is in charge.

The memorial observance will be at the 74 Woodside Drive, Longmeadow, home of Earl Alpert.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Nursing Home of Western Massachusetts, 770 Converse St., Longmeadow.
