Vivian Coggins Edge of Reidville passed away on, Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Summit Hills Retreat.
She was the daughter of the late Albert M. and Ella Hendrix Coggins of Reidville. Her teaching career expanded over 41 years in Spartanburg County. She was a devoted teacher of the Bennett, Brockman, Jackson class at Sharon United Methodist Church as long as her health permitted and a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service.
Surviving are two nieces, Peggy C. Keller (Austin) of Moore and Ella-Rose F. Lee of Spartanburg; a nephew Miller F. Coggins (Carole) of Fort Mill, S.C.; special nieces Helen M. Coggins of Greenville, Evelyn F. Coggins of Greer and JoAnn T. Coggins of Inman and many loved great-nieces and nephews and wonderful friends. Mrs. Edge was predeceased by three loving husbands, James E. Dye, Sr., David W. Bridwell and James L. Edge, Sr., and one sister, five caring brothers, three nephews and a niece.
Funeral services will be conducted at Sharon United Methodist Church, 1421 Sharon Road, Greer, S.C. on Thursday, September 9, at 3:00 p.m. by the Rev. Matthew Yon with burial in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45 p.m. Thursday before the service in the church sanctuary. The family is at the home of the niece, Ella-Rose Lee. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the cemetery fund at Sharon United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 418, Reidville, S.C. 29375 or the charity of one's choice. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the caregivers at Summit Hills Retreat, Ken Page and Dr. H. James Evans for their knowledge and faithful support in our loving aunt's journey. Also many thanks to Hospice Care of South Carolina and her dear pastor Matthew Yon.
