He moved to Canon city and began a career in the construction industry until his retirement in the late 1970s. He turned his love of gardening into an avocation as truck farmer.
Mr. Benson is survived by his wife; sisters, Nola Boynton of Willows, California, and Eva Johston of Lakewood; three nieces and one nephew; three great-nieces and five great-nephews; friends Kimery and Gene Uhl.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 8 at Wilson Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Kinyon officiating, Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Gardner Cemetery in Gardner.
