Charles William Phillips, 54, of 411 North Augusta Ave., died early Saturday morning (Oct. 18, 1997) at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
He was born July 19, 1943, a son of the late Maynard and Elizabeth Harris Phillips.
He previously worked as senior purchasing agent at Marriott Corp. and was currently working at Clayton Homes.
He was a graduate of Waynesboro High School and a member of Westwood Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Ann Courtney Phillips; three sons, Wayne Campbell of Richmond, Shawn Campbell of Manassas, and Scott Phillips of Waynesboro; one daughter, Valerie Rigoglioso of Fairfax; two brothers, Dale Phillips of Richmond, and James Phillips of Waynesboro; and one sister, Pat Cooper of Waynesboro. He is also survived by five grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter-Reynolds Funeral Service by the Revs. Gene Arey and Don Whitson with burial in Riverview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Paul Reed, Dennis Campbell, Hansford Coffey, Robert Brown, Wheldon Knight and Charles Driver.
Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends attending the service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 1290 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, Va. 22901.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
