Robert M Ray, 68, died Friday, November 5. Mr Ray is the father of Mrs Howard Hill of this city; his home was in Granville. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 6 at the Baptist church, of which he was a member. Mr Ray will be remembered by a number of friends in Cumberland county, where he made his home for 3 years. He was loving in his attitude to others, being always a faithful husband and understanding father. He bore his long illness with courage. He leaves a wife; 2 daughters; 2 sons; 9 grandchildren. Burial was in the family cemetery in Macedonia in Smith county, where he was born and lived most of his life. (Crossville Chronicle, November 11, 1943)
