Rebecca was born in Monticello, Missouri on Nov. 19, 1840. At the age of two years, her family moved to Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. She grew up there and married Francis Xavier Walsh on Nov. 20, 1860. They had five children, four girls and one boy. In the late 1870’s, the family decided to relocate to a warmer climate and moved to Nebraska. They eventually settled in Stockham, Nebraska.
