Mrs. Lura Peters was born April 8, 1879, at Hickory, North Carolina, and passed away at her home north of Waverly, Monday, July 6, 1942, at the age of 68 years, 2 months and 28 days.
She was the daughter of John and Martha E. Schell, the youngest of a family of ten children, her father being a Baptist minister.
On September 29, 1898, she was united in marriage to John Peters, of Waverly, and to this union were born four sons, Lloyd of Alexander, Roy of Springfield, Henry of Auburn, and Ellis of Waverly.
At the age of fourteen, she united with the Baptist church in North Carolina, and later transferred to Waverly. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother, and a true Christian.
Surviving are her husband and four children; five grandchildren; two brothers, Landon C. and William Schell, of North Carolina; three sisters, Mrs. Artie Overcash and Mrs. Mary Deal of North Carolina, and Mrs. Lillian Minter, of Ashland, besides many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the residence Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, in charge of Rev. N. A. Pritchard, pastor of the Baptist church.
Burial was in East Cemetery.
