For many years Mr. Diamond was active in both church and civic affairs and was a charter member of the Oak Cliff Methodist Church, as well as a member of the board of stewards. He was prominent in the development of Oak Cliff and was one of the first to settle in that part of the city.
Mr. Diamond had been a resident of Texas sixty-four years, thirty-three of which he spent in Dallas. He was born in Macon, Ga., July 3, 1852, moving to Texas with his parents when he was 5 years old. Later they removed to Whitesboro and then to Pittsburg, before settling in Dallas.
He is survived by Mrs. Diamond and four children, Mrs. R. V. Thompkins and Lawrence of Dallas, Clifford Diamond of Kyle, and Mrs. R. C. Chittim of Houston. Lawrence Owens, a grandchild of Dallas, also survives.
