Mrs Edna Souder dies following lengthy illness
A resident of St Lawrence Lodge, Brockville and a fomer resident of Prescott, Mrs Edna Loretta Souder died in the Brockville General Hospital on Wednesday January 18. She had been in poor health for several years and had been a hospital patient for four days. Born in Buffalo New York March 20, 1898, Mrs Souder was the wife of the late Lloyd Wesley Souder who predeceased her in 1977. She resided in Prescott at 340 James Street E, and had been a resident for the past 48 years. She had also resided in Port Colborne. A housewife, Mrs Souder was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. She was active in church organizations and also a member of the ladies auxillary of the Royal Canadian Legion. The daughter of the late Henry and Minerva Farrar, Mrs Souder is survived by two sons Bruce of Port Colborne and Donald of Brockville. She is also survived by four daughters Mrs Kathleen Supple of Prescott; Mrs Howard (Dorothy) Millar Prescott; Mrs Reginald (Barbara) Barton, Kansas City, Missouri; and Mrs Melville (Margaret) Gibson of Prescott. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The ladies auxillary of the legion held a memorial service Friday January 20 at 7 pm at the A.J. Britnell Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted at the Britnell Funeral Home on Saturday January 22 at 1pm with Reverend Nicholas Vandermey officiating. Pallbearers were six grandsons Gary Supple, Stephen Gibson, Shawn Souder, David Souder, Richard Barton and Terry-Paul Barton. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in the spring.
