Their son Alfred was named after it. He was a shoemaker and a farmer. He served in the civil war in Reg. 176 PA Inf., Co., I, Prvt. of Philadelphia, Nov 8, 1862 and was mustered out June 2, 1863. He and his wife were members of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church at Big Creek.
