Mrs. Ada Winter Stier
Mrs. Ada W. Stier died at Utica Tuesday Morning. She is survived by her husband, Anthony Stier; two sons, Anthony Jr., and Ulrich; an infant daughter Magdaline (sic) , and two brothers. The body was brought to this city on Tuesday in charge of William, Gang, undertaker, and later taken to the home, 228 (sic) Pond St., where the funeral will be held privately Friday morning at 8:30 o'clock and a half hour later at the church of Assumption.

On Sept 8, 2010 an amazing find-a-grave volunteer, AF #47059011, searched for Ada and could not locate her at Assumption Cemetery with the other family members she gratefully, did locate. She also checked with the office and they had no record of Ada there.
BUT THEN... on April 24, 2011, another amazing find-a-grave volunteer, Noelle #46830790, photographed her headstone and created a new memorial for her. Since my info was a little different there was no way for her to know there was already one created. Plus I didn't even have Ada listed at Assumption. Without a photo request, she didn't know I was looking for her. Turns out that Ada was not in the interment book for section M. (Her family is actually in section C) There wasn't even an owner name for her plot in the book. This prompted the cemetery staff to confirm Anna & Noelle's findings. So if Anna hadn't checked with the office, photographed and created memorials for all the Stier's she found in Sec C, and if Noelle hadn't photographed and created memorials for all the Stier's she found in Sec M, and if the cemetery staff hadn't looked for info on Ada, (which they found some) she would have been "lost". The cemetery was also grateful and have corrected the interment book.
I didn't even know Noelle had created Ada's memorial. I just "happened" upon it.

What's even more intriguing is that Noelle went to Sec M looking for Albert Stier, the only one I knew was in that section. The cemetery also confirmed he is there with his parents, brother and Ada's mother-in-law! And he is the only one in that plot without a headstone! Thankfully I now know where his family is and that there must be a connection because Ada was buried next to their plot in a single purchased grave.

This is just one example of what makes this site so amazing...the selfless volunteers!! Thank you both again!
You both plowed thru two of my brick walls!
