She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, William Lewis Ward Sr.; her two daughters, Jannette Ward and Annette Bazemore; her two brothers and three sisters, Eugene T. Nesmith, Sam B. Nesmith, Margaret Louise O'Brien, Ruby Lee Childers and Alma Rita Strickland.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jim and Janet Ward of Statesboro and William L. Ward Jr. of New Jersey; six grandchildren, Jamie and Jeremy Ward, both of Statesboro, Stephanie Shurling of Portal, Marcena Lee of Sylvania, Amelia Smith of Augusta and Delia Starcher; eight great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Sara Nesmith of Metter; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Old Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Darby officiating.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be Henry "Buddy" Banks, Christian Bennett, Curtis Deal, Glenn B. Nessmith, Randy Nessmith, William H. "Bill" Smith, Bob Smith and Jeremy Ward.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459; or to a charity of your choice.
