Esther T. Babusiak (Lewandowski), age 79, of Dyer passed away in the presence of her loving family on Thursday, September 2, 2010.
She is survived by her children: Kenneth (Jacqueline) Babusiak of Schererville, David (Catherine) Babusiak of St. John, Dawn (Lon) Marino of Stow, OH, Kurt (Nancy) Babusiak of Schererville and Kevin (Suzanne) Babusiak of Crown Point; grandchildren: Richard (Candice), Kelsey, Natalie, Kyle, Haleigh, Hailee, Troy, Chloe, Leah, Ryland and Landen. She is also survived by three sisters: Lillian (Ed) Grimler, Valerie (late John) Krajewski and Michaelene (Don) Rink; three brothers: Michael (Diane) Lewandowski, Thomas (late Kathy) Lewandowski and Joseph (Judy) Lewandowski; in-laws: Andrew (Mary) Babusiak, Mary (late George) Selagyi, Josephine (late Les) Ruhlander and Ann (late George) Chorba; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents: Michael and Anne Lewandowski; and sister, Rose (late Louie) Sobilo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 7, 2010 DIRECTLY at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 500 Northgate Dr., Dyer, IN with Rev. Charles Niblick, officiating. Burial will be held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville.
Friends are invited to meet with the family from 2:00-8:00 PM Monday, September 6, 2010 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Schererville. Additional visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
Esther was a lifelong area resident. She was a devout Catholic and proud member of St. Casmir's Church in Hammond, IN for 45 years. She was a current member of St. Maria Goretti Parish of Dyer, IN for the past 35 years.
She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping every week with her sisters Lillian and Valerie, and loved to attend all family gatherings and get-togethers.
Esther was a loving wife , mother and grandmother, and she will be dearly missed by her entire family. Her kindness and generosity will never be forgotten from all of those who were part of her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to family members who in turn will distribute to several local organizations and who support the terminally ill as well as St. Maria Goretti Church in the name of Esther Babusiak.
