Mary Ellen Gasson, 93, 24 W. Ward St., died Thursday at 11 am at Greenville Wayne Hospital. She had been in failing health several years. She was born Jan 1, 1887 in Darke County, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Bulcher) Poly. On Oct 22 1907, she was married to John Peter Gasson. He died in February 1970,

Surviving are 2 sons: John C of Versailles and Cletus A of Morrison, CO; 3 daughters: Florence Groff, Margaret (Edward) Pohl and Virginia Goubeaux, all of Versailles; 28 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Marion Poly of Augusta Mich; 3 sisters: Anna Baltes and Mary Berger, both of Versailles, and Florence Weaver of Grayling Mich.

Two sons, 2 brothers, a sister, a grandson and a great-granddaughter preceded her in death.

Mrs. Gasson was a member of the St Denis Catholic Church in Versailles and a charter member of the Daughters of Isabella. She had also helped her husband operate Gasson's Poultry Farm for 60 years.

Services will be held Monday at 10:30 am at the church, with the Rev. Lawrence Jaekle officiating. Burial will be in St Valbert's Cemetery.

Friends may call at Miller-Hill and Bailey Funeral Home in Versailles from 2 to 9 pm. The Daughters of Isabella will recite the rosary Sunday at 7:30 pm.
