David BURROUGHS, 85, Plymouth, died at 3 a.m. today in the Austin nursing home, that city. He had been seriously ill for 18 months. For over 40 years he had owned and operated a farm southeast of Argos. He moved to Plymouth 15 years ago.
The son of Edward and Cynthia BURROUGHS, he was born July 30, 1870, in Wayne county, Ill. In his youth he resided in North Dakota for a few years. On Jan. 1, 1891, he was married to Susie MARKET, who died in 1949. Mr. Burroughs was a member of the Plymouth Church of the Brethren. Survivors are five sons: Ora, Elgie and Otto [BURROUGHS], all of Plymouth, Ralph and Ray [BURROUGHS] of Argos; sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. CST Friday at the Church of the Brethren in Plymouth with the Rev. Homer KIRACOFE officiating. Burial will be in the Church of the Brethren cemetery at Walnut. Friends may call at the Grossman funeral home in Argos after 7 p.m. today until noon Friday, at which time the body will be taken to the church to lie in state for an hour prior to the services.
