Edward H. Buttke, age 97, of Grove City, died on February 28, 2006, at Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 3, 2006, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Cumings officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held in First Lutheran Cemetery in Grove City.

Edward Hugo Buttke the son of Peter and Emma (Fredricks) Buttke was born on March 2, 1908, in North Dakota. He grew up and received his education in North Dakota. Ed was united in marriage to Martha Utke on September 30, 1930, in Enderlin, North Dakota. They made their home on the Wilcox farm north of Grove City in the early 1930's. He worked as a guard for Douglas Aircraft in California from 1941 until 1942 before moving back to Northern Minnesota where he worked as a sawyer. In 1947, they moved back to Grove City and he pursued a career as a carpenter for Johnson Brothers until his retirement. Ed was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Ed was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish, hunt, snowmobile and garden. He liked to have coffee with friends and play cribbage. He also enjoyed going to the casino and wintering in Tucson.

He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Knutson of Blaine, grandchildren; Mary Kay (and Steven) Jansson and Sharon Knutson. Also surviving are great grandchildren; Kristin Jansson, Kyle Jansson, Anna Knutson and Emily Knutson and sisters; Eleanor Larsen of Minneapolis, Louise French of Litchfield and Frances (and Wallace) Palm of Grove City besides other relatives and friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, wife Martha, brother LeRoy and sister Lorraine Utke.
