Marilyn D. Cox, 79 of Marion went home to be with the Lord on Friday afternoon.
She was born in Jonesboro, Indiana to the parents of Lawrence and D. Pearl (Linn) Miller and was a life resident of Grant Co. She married Robert (Bob) Cox and he survives.
Marilyn worked at Mississinewa Community Schools for 30+ years as a secretary. She was a former member of Jonesboro Friends Church and was a member of Westview Wesleyan Church in Jonesboro for 30+ years.
Marilyn had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed entertaining and cooking. She enjoyed having fun and was known to pull a prank or two.
Marilyn enjoyed music and played piano and organ for many years in several churches, using her talent to serve the Lord. She dearly loved her family and especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Robert (Bob),
Daughter, Nancy (Lowell) Gafford, Jonesboro
Son, Joe (Rhonda) Cox, Euharlee, Georgia
Sister, Mildred Dean, Gas City.
Grandchildren: David (Melissa) Gafford; Julie (Nathan) Lamb; Jaclyn (Marty) Reiswig; Jenae (Aaron) Lipman; Jamie Cox.
Great Grandchildren: 6
Preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Louise Miller and a brother in law, Charles Dean.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Westview Wesleyan Church 1300 W. 6th St. Jonesboro with the Rev. C.L. Fletcher and Rev. Mark Deisler officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Gas City.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 East Main St. Gas City.
