HILO—Mrs. Frieda Carvalho, 71, of Papaikou, a retired schoolteacher, died yesterday, her birthday, in Hilo Hospital.
A funeral Mass will be said at 3 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will follow in Mauna Kea Memorial Park.
Mrs. Carvalho was born in Honolulu. She was a graduate of the Honolulu Normal School and taught at Kalanianaole, Hakalau Elementary and Pepeekeo Elementary schools.
She is survived by her husband, Reginald; a son, Reginald Jr.; a daughter, Yvonne Shaw; two sisters, Mrs. Manuel (Dora) Robello and Mrs. Francis (Elizabeth) Rapoza; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
