Silas Winchel was the son of George E. Currey and Margaret Stevens. He married Mary Jane Weaver.

Funeral Rites Held
for Silas Currey

Almont – Funeral services for Silas
Winchel Currey were held Sunday
afternoon, May 27, at the home of
his son Walter, with Rev. H. H.
Cheney officiating and interment
in the Scotch Settlement Cemetery.
Mr. Currey, second son of George
and Margaret Currey, was born in
Drumbo, Can. August 15, 1855.
When a child of seven he came
with his parents to Michigan, set-
tling near Almont. On Sept 5,
1883 he was married to Mary Jane
Weaver of Attica, who preceded
him in death May 3, 1932. To this
union four children were born, Mrs.
Thomas Borland, Mrs. Arthur Bor-
land, Walter Currey, of Almont and
Mrs. Ward Abbott (Margaret Cur-
rey) now deceased.
Others surviving are one brother
Charles of Almont, two sisters, Mrs.
Sarah A. Schell of North Branch
and Mrs. John Sutton of Pontiac
and fourteen grandchildren. Early
in his life he united with the Bap-
tist church of which he remained
a devoted member until his death.
