**While this is my (Jamie) line; I am currently working this: I can not say what the previous manager of the memorial put in here is totally accurate, that is for your research to show. We always learn more when paperwork comes to light. Thank you, Jamie: Also... All notes below comes from previous manager. The previous manager had a set of parents added to this memorial I have removed as they are not to be this Thomas's parents. Research shows to be VA not RI for this Thomas Smith

Thomas was the son of Thomas Smith II and a Miss Davis. Thomas married Eunice Nancy Lewis 29 Nov 1772. They had 9 children that I know of: Sarah, Robert Sr, Jabel, Mary, Nancy, Thomas IV, Margaret, Kizziah, and Rhoda Smith. Thomas SMITH first appeared in Kentucky record on 1788,

Madison County Tax Book. Thomas owned land on Goose Creek. As new counties were created from larger counties this land was considered part of Knox Couny in 1805, and finally, a part of Clay County in 1807 when Clay was formed from Madison and Knox Counties. A series of Clay County deeds involving Thomas's estate, dated from 1828 to 1835, indicate that Thomas died before August 11, 1828 and that he owned two tracts of land on Goose Creek which was inherited by 10 heirs, his children and their spouses and 2 unnamed others. The land was divided in 1832 by the heirs. Children of Thomas SMITH and Eunice Unice Nancy, all married in Clay County.

Thomas is the 5th Great Grandfather of Lee Smith and the 6th Great Grandfather of our children Staci and Todd Smith.
