A.B. Newson, farmer; P.O., Mt. Gilead; was born in Gilead, Morrow Co., in 1832. His parents were originally from Washington Co., Ind.; his ancestry preceding the second generation was English. Mr. Newson spent his youth on his father's farm, attending the public school in the vicinity.

At the age of 25 he married Miss Phoebe A. Hull; the following four years he remained in Gilead, after which he moved to Washington Twp., and settled on a part of the large farm, which he has since acquired, and now controls.

They have three children - Georgiana, now the wife of W.F. Blayney, living on a part of the farm; Laura, 14, and Elry, 5 years of age.

Mr. Newson's farm numbers 500 acres, cultivated principally with a view to stock-grazing; while he has a large number of many varieties of livestock, he specializes two branches: fine horses and sheep. He at present has on the farm about a thousand sheep, some thoroughbred, of the Spanish Merino variety; Mr. Newson is also a prominent official in the M.E. Church.

With a character unimpeachable, with an abundance at his command, with opportunities unsurpassed, the future before him is indeed enviable.
