Walter Franklin Yeager Sr., of Berlin Center, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Friday, September 03, 2010 in Blossom Care Center in Salem following a short illness. He was 87 years old.
Walter was born on September 10, 1922 to the late Albert and Helen (Hawkins) Yeager. Born at home in Ellsworth, he graduated from Canfield High School.
Walter worked at Mullins in Salem and then retired in 1986 from Taylor Winfield in Warren where he worked as an inspector for 33 years.
He was a member of the Western Reserve School Board for over twenty years and was a Mahoning County Vocational School Board member for over twenty years. He was a retired member of Berlin-Ellsworth Ruritan Club and was a 4-H Advisor for Ellsworth Jr. Farmers for over sixty nine years. Walter was a member of the Canfield AARP.
He will be missed by his wife of 65 years the former Doris Handwork, whom he married on December 9, 1944; five children Bonnie J. (Charles) Tieche of Canfield, Don F. (Dorla) Yeager of Millville, NJ, LeRoy A. (Carolyn) Yeager of West Sunbury, PA, Walter F. (Melodie) Yeager Jr. of Canfield and Todd S. (Kriss) Yeager of North Jackson; fifteen grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Walter was preceded in death by a sister Mary Conrad and a grandson Jason Yeager.
