Bertha (Betty) was the daughter of Andreas and Wilhelmina (Schmalfelt) Koester who arrived in America around 1871. Bertha is the seconded from the youngest of eight children. Magdelena, Wilhelmina Johanna, Henry F, Anna M, Andrew, Elizabeth S, and Carl E.
On October 12, 1915, she married Charles Joseph Niemeyer and they had two daughters, Grace Mary, and Doris Edna.
In about 1960, she married Ernest (Ernie) Mauss.
Betty loved to sew, crochet and spend time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling around the country. She died at the former St. Lukes Hospital located on Robinwood in Toledo, Ohio.
