P. D. LeBleu — Prominent in Section, Died
Rites Tuesday for Widely Known Resident of Parish and Public Official

Polignac D. LeBleu, well known Southwest Louisiana cattleman and public official, member of one of the pioneer families of this section, died at 9:25 Sunday night at St. Patrick's hospital.

Mr. LeBleu, widely known as "Poley," would have been 69 years old Thursday. Death followed an operation performed Wednesday from which Mr. LeBleu failed to rally.

Born September 9, 1874, at the old LeBleu residence near Chloe, where his mother, Mrs. Leonise LeBleu, now 97, still resides. Mr. LeBleu spent all his childhood in this part of Louisiana.

War Veteran — He enrolled with the forces of the United States in the Spanish-American war and was stationed in Jacksonville and Miami, Fla. Receiving an honorable discharge from his regiment, Mr. LeBleu returned to Lake Charles and began his career as a farmer and cattleman, meeting with increasing success.

He served successively in various public offices, first as an assessor in the early 1900s, then as registrar of voters of Old Imperial Calcasiou under Governor J. Y. Sanders. For 12 years, from 1904 to 1916, he was conservation agent in the parish.

He was elected to the Calcasieu police Jury in 1928 and served a four-year term in that office. Since 1902, he has been with the Louisiana Department of Revenue, in charge of the collection of state licenses.

About 30 years ago, Mr. Lebleu conceived the idea for a local cavalry troop, organized and developed the 3rd troop cavalry of the famous Blue Rangers, with which he was a second lieutenant. This force was later transferred to Jeff Davis parish and became the Jennings Cavalry.
He was active in fraternal circles, being at the time of his death a fourth degree Knights of Columbus and a member of the Spanish-American War Veterans organization. He was a member of one of the widest known families of this area.

Survivors — Immediate relatives surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Nora LeBleu, and one daughter, Melba, both of Lake Charles; his mother, Mrs. Leonise LeBleu, and four sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Richard, Mrs. Grace Rosteet, Mrs. Evelina Aaron and Mrs. Ellen LeBleu Little, all of Lake Charles, also survive.

He has 19 nephews: Harold Richard, Henry Rosteet, Henry Little Jr., Francis Aaron, Albert Rosteet, Paul Rosteet, Charles Rosteet, Milton Soulier, George Soulier, Reginald Aaron, Joseph Aaron, James Carroll, Louis Cruickshank, Edwin Richard, Robert Richard, Al Ribeck, Kenneth McCain, Edwin W. Burial Rites — Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock from the Church of the Immaculate Conception, with Rt. Rev. Monsr. John A. Vigilero officiating. The cortege will start from his former residence on Sixth Avenue at about 9:30. Internment will be in Graceland Cemetery with full military ceremonies of the Spanish War Veterans.
