EDWARD NELSON FUNERAL AT 2 FRIDAY AFTERNOON
Funeral services for Edward Nelson, who died at 10 a. m. yesterday, will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in the Livingston chapel. Rev. C. E. Lemmon of the Christian church will officiate. Interment will be at Parkview.
Showers Edward Nelson was born in Kentucky, August 31, 1847. He enlisted in the civil war and served with the Fourth Kentucky Infantry. He was captured and imprisoned at Andersonville for a year, suffering great torments. He married Mary Belle Draper at Fairfield Ind., on August 9, 1870, and lived in Greensburg, Ind., two years, and later in Gibson, Ill., for fourteen years. He brought his family to Hastings in 1884 and since resided here.
The couple had ten children-six daughters and four boys, as follows: Mrs. Ada Stanley, New York City; Mrs. Nancy Mates, Hastings; Mrs. Lulu Douglas, Hastings; Mrs. Charles Heitz, Doniphan; Mrs. Mar Rudat, Hastings; Mrs. Elma Lapcheske, Blair; Mort Nelson, Chicago; Thomas Nelson, who was drowned three years ago in Lake Michigan; Hiram Nelson, Kearney; Harry Nelson, Hastings. All of the children are here except Mrs. Stanley of New York City, who will be unable to attend the funeral.
