Elwood Dayton Boone, 79, a resident of Decatur for nearly 75 years, died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs.C.E.Davis in Elgin. Mr.Boone had been ill several months.
Known to his Decatur friends as "Did" Mrs. Boone was born in Cambridge, Ind. May 13, 1859 the son of Cornelius and Luisa Boone. He moved to Decatur with his parents when four years old. For many years Mr.Boone was employed as a carpenter by Several Decatur contracting firms. He had retired from Active work several years ago. Mr.Boone was a member of the Decatur Carpenters Union local.
Mr.Boone leaves his wife, Mary, two daughters, Mrs.Davis and Mrs. Hazel McDaniel of Logan, Ia, four sons, Elwood Boone Jr. Decatur,Edward Boone Decatur, Roy Boone,Chicago,Harold Boone, Forrest Park, and Lyle Boone, Decatur, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The body will be brought from Elgin to Morans funeral home today. Arrangements are incomplete.
