John's father was James Henson (1849-1919), son of Lewis Henson (1814-1852) and Sarah "Sallie" DeHart (1815-1878). His mother was Elizabeth Gilliam (1849-1919), daughter of Charles Gilliam (1804-1882) and Winney Lewis (1808-1880). John's siblings were Lewis (1870-1935), Polly Ann (1871- ), Jesse (1875-1913), Judy (1878- ), Milford (1884-1940), Virgie (1885-1934), and Charlie (1887- ). John and Helen also had a daughter Gracie who was born 11 Jan 1904 and died 7 May 1904.


Henson Cemetery, Elliott Co., KY, I.D. 2368721, was created when John's son Basil died in 1921. Since then, FAMILY MEMBERS ONLY have been buried there. Violet Henson Ratliff, her husband Silas and son John are the only ones there who are not named Henson. See photo of list of people buried there.
