A son of Charles F. & Mary Shoup Smith.
He was married to the former Ethel Sickles on 30 July 1911.

He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church,
the Freeport Masonic Lodge,the Coudersport Consistory
and the Altoona Shrine.
For many years he operated the North Findley Street Bakery.

He leaves his widow and these sons and daughters:
Mrs.Richard B.Cooper of New Kensington;
Charles J.Smith of Baxter;
John H. Smith of Chicago;
and Mrs.William Morris of Punxsutawney.
He also leaves 5 grandchildren
and 1 brother:
Dr.Jacob C.Smith of Tarentum;
and 3 sisters:
Mrs.William [Lisetta] McCafferty of Sarver;
Mrs.Alice Smith Henry of Tarentum;
and Mrs.H.S. [Ida]Dorsett of Cranberry NJ.
