Maysville Herald:--It is a remarkably sad tragedy that has swept over the household of E. W. Downs and family of the Weatherby community the past few weeks. John Downs, the youngest son, died Saturday. He was about 16 years of age. His death was due to pneumonia. The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon and the burial was in the Alta Vista cemetery. For three straight Sundays Mr. Downs buried the body of a son every Sunday. Emmet Downs, the soldier boy, died at Camp Funston, Kansas, from influenza followed by pneumonia. The funeral services for him were held two weeks ago last Sunday. Then during the week following, Lewis Downs, another son died and his funeral was held a week ago last Sunday. Then followed the death of the third son and the funeral last Sunday.
