COOKEVILLE: Funeral services for Allie Ellen Whitson, 93, of Cookeville, will be held at 4 p.m. today, Sunday, October 8, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until time of services today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Whitson died on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, in Life Care Center of Sparta.

She was born on October 19, 1912, in Putnam County to the late Bennett and Savannah Bowman Rector.

Mrs. Whitson was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Her family includes three daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Alice Whitson of Cookeville, Pearl Stewart of Iowa, and Reba and Paul Holt of Lebanon; a son, Cecil Whitson of Cookeville; a sister, Velma Clark of Cookeville; 10 grandchildren, Chuck and Terri Cunningham, Marlon and John Holt, Dewayne Whitson, Marcia Parris, Sharon Felder, Kim Meier, Karen Minnear and Paula Gardner; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Dyer and Tiny Swafford; and five brothers, Issac, Herman, Lester and Haskell Rector.

Pallbearers will be Marlon and John Holt, Dewayne and Christopher Whitson, Chuck Cunningham and Robert Felder.

Honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Simmons.

Bro. Don Wynn will officiate at the services.
