I remember Joe Anne as being my mom's 1st or 2nd cousin. By the time I came along & we moved to MN they'd moved to Iowa. On our way in between MN & OK we'd stop off in Iowa & say hi...sometimes spend the night.

In the first couple of years we saw their mom Goldie too. Joe Anne & her older sister Maxine continued living in the house after her death. It was an old scary house then behind it, at the top of a bluff (Council Bluffs), was a cemetery. There's where I acquired my love of strolling through cemeteries.

It's through Joe Anne I think I gained my love of children & wanting to teach them. She was a Catholic nun who, eh, quit, to be a teacher (I think). Either that or she was a Catholic nun teacher who quit to help out her elderly mom & sick sister. The old scary house was full of boxes & boxes of teaching supplies. If I wasn't in the cemetery then I was in the boxes.

I'm so sorry I didn't know/get to say good-bye. RIP cousin Joe Anne.
