RITES SATURDAY AT WINNECONNE FOR ALFRED DEVENS
WINNECONNE - Last rites for Alfred LaMont Devens, 75, who died at Mercy Hospital, Oshkosh, at 6:15 a.m. today, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Mueller Funeral Home, with the Rev. Orville Mellquist officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday afternoon and evening. Interment will be in Plummer Cemetery.
Born Aug.5, 1881, in the Town of Vinland, the son of the late Alfred B. and Martha Devens attended Mears School, and, in his early manhood was employed as a farm hand in the township of his birth. On Dec. 23, 1909, he married the former Lillian Fuhs, and they lived on a farm until his retirement in 1941, when they moved to Winneconne.
Survivors include his wife, a son, Louis B., Rt. 4, Oshkosh, and a sister, Mrs. Harriet Ross, Rt. 4, Oshkosh. Two sisters, Ethel and Mrs. J.W. Armstrong and brother, Edgar, preceded Mr. Devens in death.
