Son of Michael & Anna Hanyzewski. Born Ludovicus, later shortened to Ludwik, and Ludwig in many documents in the USA and finally Americanized to Louis.

Arrived in the US via the Port of Baltimore on 8-10-1889 from Port of Bremen.

Louis Hanyzewski married several times, his first wife marriage 28 Feb 1916 to Josephea 'Josie' Stejbach in Rolling Prairie, La Porte County,Indiana. Together they had a son, Julius Budd 'Hank' 14 Dec 1916, but sadly just short of his second birthday, his Mother Josie died of Diphtheria 8 Dec 1918, he passing further complicated by the Spanish flu epidemic.

Louis later re-married Franciszka 'Frances' Klodzinski 19 Nov 1919, and their son Edward Michael Hanyzewski was born 18 Sep 1920, who was to later become a Pitcher for the Chicago Cubs in the 1940's. Tragedy struck the Hanyzewski family again when Frances passed 5 Jun 1923 of a pulmonary abscess.

Louis was Naturalized 7 Feb 1923 in South Bend Indiana.

After his second wife's passing he later married Anna Strykul (nee Bancer) around 1924, whose husband passed in 1923. The first child to this union was daughter Lucile 'Lucy' Ann Hanyzewski was born 7 Jan 1925.

Before this union, Anna had several children from her first husband Joseph, who was killed in a tragic car accident in 1923.

Rites for Cub Pitcher's Father to Be Tuesday
Deceased Name: Louis Hanyzewski
South Bend, Ind., Dec. 30 [Special]. -- Funeral services for Louis Hanyzewski, 66, father of Eddie Hanyzewski, Chicago Cub hurler, will be held here Tuesday afternoon. T. C. Goraczewski , St. Joseph county coroner, said death was due to a heart attack. A daughter, Anna, found her father dead when she went to awaken him Friday.
