Dale LeRoy McCarty, of Havana, died on
November 28, 2000 at Mercy Hospital, Independence.

He was born on April 23, 1941 on the McCarty family homestead on Card Creek, Montgomery County Kansas. He was the 7th child of Elmer Lester and Vada Dena Wilke McCarty. He grew up and attended school in the Elk City and Wayside areas.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Afterwards,
he returned to the area and was employed with
Woods Lumber of Independence,the Independence Coca Cola Plant and later the Aerosol Plant in Neodesha. He was most recently empoloyed by Orscheln Farm and Home Supply in Coffeyville. He owned a trash route for many years, serving the people of rural Montgomery County.

He was married twice. First to Mary Jane
Knisley which ended in divorce, and the
second time to Belva Robbins Houston in 1978.

His only biological son, Timothy Paugh,
was born out of his relationship with
Georgenna Paugh.

Survivors include his wife, Belva, of the home;
his son, Timothy Paugh, a stepson, Jim Houston, of Thayer; two step-daughters, Jeannie Stanton of Marrietta, California, and Brenda Smith of Piqua, Ohio; two sisters, Edith Eckles and Audrey Handy, both of Sacramento, California; twobrothers, Leonard McCarty of Kearney, Nebraska, and Virgil McCarty of Independence; and seven
step-grandchildren.

He was cremated and inurnment was in Mount Hope Cemetery, in Independence.
