In Mine Accident

SALT LAKE CITY (UPI)—One employe of Kennecott Copper Corp was injured seriously Tuesday when a bank trimmer skidded 50 feet down a bank.

Richard A. Beals, 32, Murray, received internal injuries when the bank gave way under the machine and he and another man slid down with the machine.

Rex E. Bateman, 35 (of 6067 South Redwood Road) Murray, was released after examination at a hospital. The accident was at the Bingham Copper mine of Kennecott Copper Corp.

Proves Fatal

BINGHAM (UPI)—A 32-year-old Murray man died this morning after he was pinned beneath a large tractor for an hour and a half a week ago at the Kennecott Copper Corp., Bingham mine.

Richard A. Beals died at 12:15 a.m. in a Salt Lake City hospital.

He was operating a bank trimmer, which is a large tractor with mounted boom and rake, Dec. 18 when it skidded 50 feet down a bank and pinned him underneath.

Funeral services were pending.
