He graduated from Commerce High School and served as a Gunner's Mate, 2nd Class on the Destroyer U.S.S. Melvin, during World War II in the Philippines. He was employed at Warren F. Hoye Inc,. a sales manger for 33 yrs, in wholesale building and roofing supplies. He was an avid sports fan, and loved his Yankees, and also enjoyed traveling. He also loved to sing.
He leaves his wife, Frances of 61 years and their five children, a son, Robert J. Lavertue, and his wife, Dorothy, of Ludlow and their two sons, Scott Allen of Ludlow and Michael Paul Lavertue of Springfield; his daughter, Nancy J Hurst and Life Partner Diane Lee of Hartford, Ct.; a son, Brian Reed Lavertue of Springfield; a daughter, Cheryl Ann McDaniel and husband, Ronnie of and their two children, Courtney F. and Adam J. all of Albany Ga.; a son, Paul Edward Lavertue and wife, Patricia and their two sons Kristofer and Joseph Lavertue of Longmeadow, Mass.

Calling hours will take place for family and friends on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
