Mrs. Elizabeth (Yount) Black, 77, of Gaffney, South Carolina, died May 18, 1998. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church of Gaffney, South Carolina, and a homemaker. Born October 23, 1921 in Pacolet Mills, South Carolina, she was the daughter of William Perry and Magnolia "Nola" (Kanipe) Yount.
Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother: Mrs. Ida Ann Kanipe; brothers: Carl A. "Sandy" Yount, Frank David Yount, Boyd Cecil Yount, and Mack C. "Whitey" Yount.
Mrs. Black was survived by her husband: Ray G. Black of the home; sons: Boyd C. Black (wife Cheryl) of Camden, South Carolina, Sandy Black (wife Mary) of Titusville, Florida, and Raymond Black (wife Mary) of Jacksonville, Florida; sister: Lois (Yount) Weatherford of Eutawville, South Carolina; brother: Billy Earl Yount of Eutawville, South Carolina; four grandchildren: Teresa, Kenny, Susan, and Shannon; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were May 21, 1998, at Southside Baptist Church, with the Reverend Charlie Wilborn and the Reverend Harry Crosby officiating. Teresa Carter accompanied on the piano, with Michelle Whelchel on the organ. Pallbearers were: Lawrence Blackwood, Chester Spencer, Earl Coyle, Dean Black, and Joe Brown. Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home of Gaffney, ministered to the family. Interment was in the Fair Forest Church cemetery (Duck Pond).
