Duncan Carter
Funeral services for Mr. Duncan G. Carter, 88, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at Point Chapel Assembly of God in Doyline with the Rev. Lee Nunley officiating and the Rev. Danny Moffett assisting. Burial followed at Point Chapel Cemetery in Doyline with full military honors.
Mr. Carter, a lifelong resident of Doyline, passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, at the VA Medical Center. He was retired from the Webster Parish School Board. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the invasion of Luzon in the Philippine Islands, and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollin and Kate Carter; daughter, Judy Harper; son, Melvin Stewart; two sisters, Martha Carter and Virgil Angel; five brothers, J.D. Carter, George Carter, Dan Carter, Gladney Carter and L.C. Carter.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Tina Stewart Carter; two sons, Charles "Dugan" Stewart and wife Bennye of Doyline, and Kenneth Stewart and wife Dawn of Dubberly; daughter, Ruby Mitchell of Doyline; daughter-in-law, Wanda Stewart of Doyline; sisters, Gladys Blackwell and husband Vernon and Annie Kate Bryant, both of Bossier City, Mae Martin of Minden; brother, Dayton Carter of Doyline; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Mitchell, George Carter, Clay Craig, Jeremy Moffett, Tony Stewart and Chuck Stewart.
Memorials may be made to Point Chapel Assembly of God Church in Doyline.
