Darlene Scharnhorst, 65, of Saline County died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2010, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, with Rev. Vernon Maxted officiating. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.

Born Aug. 24, 1944, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Bill Brooks and Alice Bullard Brooks Alspaw. On June 19, 1959, she married Charles Richard Scharnhorst, who preceded her in death June 9, 1999. She had lived in Marshall most of her life and had worked at Saline County Rest Home and The Living Center for many years.

Survivors include one son, Danny J. Scharnhorst of Lee's Summit; one daughter, Donna Aversman of rural Waverly; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Dovie Pettit of rural Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Roy Scharnhorst, and two brothers, James Alspaw and Ed Alspaw.
