Funeral services for William Hopkins "Uncle Hop" Bohannon, 76, well known resident of Cookeville for the past 40 years who died unexpectedly in his sleep Saturday morning, were conducted Sunday afternoon on the lawn of the family home on South Washinton Avenue.
Long a resident of the Third District, Mr. Bohannon moved to Cookeville and ran a grocery on the North side of the square for several years. He had been retired several years and spent the most of his time around the court house.
Mr. Bohannon was found dead in his bed Saturday morning about 5 o'clock. He was ill for several days some few weeks ago, but had been able to be in town the day before his death.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Stella Holsapple Bohannon; one son Keith Bohannon, a Cookeville lawyer
and assistant U. S. attorney for Middle Tennessee; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Hensley, Cookeville, and Miss Bessie Bohannon, Washington D. C.; one brother, John Bohannon, of Old Hickory.
