Center, Texas, July 2 (Special)—Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Parker Downer, 93, who died at her home here Wednesday, will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Magnum funeral chapel.
The Rev. Robert Mathney, pastor of the First Christian church here, of which Mrs. Downer was a member, will officiate. The Rev. Carroll Chadwick, pastor of the First Baptist church, and the Rev. Chester Phillips, pastor of the First Methodist church, will assist. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
A prominent native of Shelby county, Mrs. Downer was the widow of the late W. B. Downer and the oldest daughter of the late Judge Bob Parker, who negotiated the transfer of the county courthouse from Shelbyville to Center shortly after the War Between the States.
Mrs. Downer is survived by five sons, Otto, Clyde and Matt Downer, all of Shreveport, Wayne Downer of Longstreet and Parker Downer of Center; one sister, Mrs. Livie Haynes of Beaumont, Texas, nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
