NAMES USED DURING LIFETIME: He was often called "A.D." and "Uncle Doll". Both his obituary and headstone named him "A.D." and did not give a full name. He was listed in one census at age 15 as Alonzo A. (Possibly A for Adolphus) and at least two other censuses as "Adolphus D." I am adopting Alonzo Dolphus here to match the initials he was most often known by: "A.D."

OBITUARY: Concordia, KS Kansan, Thur, May 21, 1931: "A. D. MILLIRONS DEAD. A.D. Millirons, former mayor of Concordia and one of Concordia's best known citizens, died quite suddenly at his home (at) 113 West Eighth Street last Saturday morning about two o'clock. Mr. Millirons suffered an attack of asthma on Sunday and the following Friday a bad case of pneumonia developed, which could not be checked and resulted in death.

Mr. Millirons was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Millirons and was born at Unionville, Missouri, on September 18, 1864 (*** NOTE: This conflicts with other info we have that shows 1865. Tombstone shows year only as 1865. ***) The family moved to Cloud County, Kansas in 1877, and settled on a farm west of Concordia. He was married to Miss Ella Johnston, December 23, 1886, and to this union were born five children. Mrs. Millirons died in September, 1923, and on December 10, 1929, Mr. Millirons married Miss Eva Moore, of this city.

Mr. Millirons and his family resided on a farm until 1911 when they moved to Concordia, that the children might attend the city schools, and he has resided here since that time. He first served as councilman from the second ward and from 1917 to 1925 was Mayor of the city. For many years Mr. Millirons served as assessor, first in Buffalo Township and later in the city of Concordia, and had only recently finished his work in town this year. Mr. Millirons in his official capacities while in Cloud County made many friends by his courteous and fair treatment of all those with whom he came in contact. He was of a quiet and unassuming disposition and a very good citizen.

Besides his wife, Mrs. Eva Millirons, he is survived by five children: Mrs. Annie Taylor, Mrs. Nellie Clemons, Mrs. Florence Brown, and Walter Millirons, of Concordia, and Mrs. Ruby Kegebehn, of Salina. Also, two sisters, Mrs. George Johnston, of Concordia, and Mrs. Jesse Johnston, of Salem, Oregon, and by eleven grandchildren.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Odd Fellows Lodge, and the Elks Lodge.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Methodist Church conducted by Rev. D. B. Magee and burial was made in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery."
