Fred Grant Flack, 81 of Dickens.
died at Spencer Municipal Hospital Friday, May 11. Services will be 1:30p.m. Tuesday in the Warner Chapel with the Rev. Clark Christian officiating.
Casket bearers will be all of Mr. Flack's grandsons. Burial will be in Dickens Cemetery, Dickens. The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Flack was born Feb. 5, 1909, near Dickens to John and Emma Strohman-Flack. He was baptized Oct. 10, 1910, in the Dickens Methodist Church.
Mr. Flack received his early education in the Barlow Country School near Dickens and after graduating from Dickens High School, he began farming.
He marred Elsie Mae Jones on Oct. 30, 1929, at the Methodist Parsonage in Spencer. The couple made its home in the Dickens community where Mr. Flack farmed for 37 years, retiring in March of 1972. After retiring, he continued to work part-time at the Dickens Co-op Elevator until his health failed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren and one brother. Mr. Flack is survived by his wife; two sons and their wives, Frank and Mary of Englewood, Colo., and Roscoe and Roberta of Clinton, Mich.; six daughters and their husbands, Arlene and Bill Hargrave, Lillian and Melvin Whalen and Betty Bang all of Dickens, Marie and Jim Hyde of Albuquerque, N.M., Frances and Keith Mortenson of Spencer and Linda and Kyle Kenobbie of Greenville; 28 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
